Volunteering..!!!!
So you are thinking of giving over some of your time, making a contribution to a worthy cause. We are glad you made that most noble decision,but caution you to consider the following;
Muslim? No question.Dead easy.We thoroughly recommend AL GHAZZALI. http://alghazzali.org/display/contact . In’shah’allah.
——————————————————————————————————————————————-
SYDNEY CBD:
The Station Pty Ltd; we recommend the Station because it is the most effective deliverer of government services to the homeless community, and we believe it does so efficiently.Not privy to its budgets,didn’t ask. But known to be govt funded.
The Station Ltd drop in centre is for men and women 21 and over who are experiencing homelessness and/or unemployment.
——————————————————————————————————————————————-
Following several requests to do so, we are delighted to recommend DONATING,VOLUNTEERING and SUPPORTING THE STARLIGHT FOUNDATION.Although not focussed on our community we can find no reason whatsoever not to fully support them, in the excellent work they do with terminally ill, and marginalised children.
Accountants,Auditors and legal professionals are needed to assist with the legal and financial auditing aspects of our alliance, assisting other volunteers and donors in ensuring that the NPO is financially the business that donors would reasonably expect, and in addition addressing our specific criteria. Contact us at sydneyhomeless@letterboxes.org
We are not at this time recommending any other specific organisations, however, we as a general rule do not recommend volunteering with charities which are primarily providers of government based services. Nor do we support working in voluntary fundraising roles.
We especially DO NOT endorse voluntary fundraising activities without a thorough prior knowledge of the organisation.
While Exodus Foundation do provide a well used service in Ashfield, we caution that this organisation is church based, affiliated with the multimillon dollar a year Uniting Care Australia, and directly involved in delivering politically motivated government services.
Other volunteers are strongly urged to support;
St Vincent de Pauls Night & Breakfast Foodvan Service.
We ask that volunteers excercise their individual judgement in volunteering with ANY other Vinnies activity, in particular their chain of shops.

You could try Scots Church at Wynyard Park – breakfast is provided Monday to Friday 7.00am to 8.00am for the homeless and disadvantaged. It is called “The Early Bird Cafe” . Volunteers are currently needed for Wednesday mornings. I am the Project Manager – Ph 0416163783. Call to discuss

Hi Tom,
I just called this number regarding volunteering at “The Early Bird Cafe.” I work in the rocks and our organization is looking for flexible volunteer opportunities. I have a friend who works your Early Bird Cafe regularly through his rotary club and it sounds like it would be just the volunteering opportunity I am looking for. Please let me know if you are still the Project Manager there and what I can do to get involved.
Looking forward to hearing from you!!

Hi. I too, would like to volunteer my help to those in need, and I do not mean by giving donations to an organisation or charity. I mean hands on help directly to the person in need. I have searched google inside out and upside down, and only just caught sight of this page. Why is it so hard to find out how and where and when to volunteer? How do I reach someone in need? Neither word of mouth nor any social networks, have presented me with the opportunity to offer a helping hand in charity work. I cant believe it. I know there is people out there that are in desperate need, even for food, for clothing, for a heater, for a blanket, bus money, etc. I just haven’t had any clear leads, not from family or friends, not from any notice boards, and not from social media. This is the first and only website I have come across in weeks of searching that has mentioned about a few different nightly gatherings to feed the hungry. Hopefully the info is current, it will be a good place to start. If anyone is keen to get a group together and meet at any of the gatherings mentioned on this website, please email me. I.t.s.jidah@gmail.com. Personal safety is a priority, safety in numbers would best at night. Also, meeting at the nearest police station and doing an id check would be great to avoid any safety issues between ourselves, for peace of mind.

Hi everyone,
I am finding it hard to find a straight forward link that would allow me to make contact with a soup kitchen type environment to volunteer with my brothers and I? I think that it is such an invaluable lesson that you can learn in volunteering. All while helping someone else in need. Lessons in compassion, empathy, gratitude and humanity. All these qualities that I want to see in the future. A hands on approach is more effective for me- any ideas? suggestions? Links?
it would be greatly appreciated. If your going to be snarky, don’t bother replying. and get off this website.

This MEAG seems to be a spinners of some kind or another very possibly on a 6 figure income to “enlighten us all”. When SAAP’s force children to do daily upkeep chores of their or DoCS properties and then charge the child for the accomodation while manned by incompetent and worse volunteers, then something is rotten in Denmark er er Sydney.
I note that Father Chris Riley has just given the Labor Homeless Group the flick. Although I have no affiliation with YOTS I think he seems like a decent bloke prepared to stand up for the kids and the homeless.
He stood up to the Catholic Church over sexual abuse and the 2020 fiasco to bring the issue out in the open – all to no avail. Makes you wonder when govts ignore decent people and pander over the dubious if birds of a feather dont just stick together?????

What a whole lot of babble! It never ceases to amaze me why people just have to complain about persons or organisations that roll their sleeves up & do the work! I suppose we have on one hand the Exodus staff & volunteers that get out there & do it, then on the other hand we have the ones that sit & complain & make derogotory comments! Again I suppose it all comes down to morals, education & intelligence!

thats just it, Bill Crews/Exodus didn’t actually do any work, they just backstabbed Jef and the dedicated Just Enough Faith volunteers who spent years building a non religious (yes, christian,muslim and hindhi, as well as sai baba and buddhists all worked there. THEY DID ALL THE WORK. Bill Crews church based business(sorry,charity) get paid for it from day one.An instant crowd of hundreds to add to the government revenue streams and begging bowl, not to mention the lucrative sunday donations at the pulpit.Have you seen the latest? We want to honour the man with our first site aimed at finding out whether charities and government departments are really above board!!! http://billcrews.wordpress.com . I await your email thanking us.
kindest regards

Whom ever posted this report needs to take a good look at themselves, just shows your lack of intelligence!
Any organisation where volunteers give up their time & church groups who offer services to all needy people should be welcomed not criticised.
We should be striving for the same thing, making life a bit better for those in need!
Wake up before you destroy everything!

We really value your opinion and have posted it,and our response, on our site (contact details deleted)
hi,
and thanks again for your viewpoint. Our recommendations to volunteers have a moral basis. We consider that many volunteers are simply exploited by organisations which in some cases receive millions of dollars annually to provide services, yet have volunteers perform much of the labour component of that funded operation. Where the operation is publicly funded, and in some other cases, it is a cynical conspiracy by the funding provider and the charity or other NFP involved to provide the service at minimal cost. The downstream effect is that the work done at 0 cost by volunteers represents another potential paid position which is lost, and expotentially another job on the scrapheap. In many cases the “good works” performed by committed volunteers in one sector of an organisation are pointed to in other sections of the organisation as stimulus for often unaccounted donations. Church pulpit collection systems spring to mind.
Our volunteer recommendations page does not look at the merits or demerits of volunteering per se, nor does it consider organisations whose activities fall outside the “homeless/potentially homeless” sphere, which we cater to. Our endorsement or otherwise of an organisation is purely on the basis of whether we consider the organisation to be “a homeless services organisation who fundraise” or “a fundraising organisation who provide homeless services”.
If by chance we happen to destroy, as you put it, or expose, any nepotism, cosy deals between charities and their government or corporate sponsors, or instances of special relationships between parties which cause funds or resources raised in the name of marginalised people to be siphoned off then we make no apologies whatsoever. In fact, for the charities/NGOs who operate in that way in the name of homeless people: Storm warning. Hurricane Homeless Viewpoint is heading right your way and its a category nine!!!!
